Yet Another Year of Baking

I have been missing from the cyberworld for the past two months. I miss visiting my favourite baking and cooking blogs and I couldn't even find time to update my blog. This is also the first time I have missed my baking blog anniversary. I am 5 days late :(

Besides busy with my home renovation, I spent the last 10 days of 2010 in cold cold Beijing. It was by chance, I went into a local bookstore in Beijing and bought myself a little present to mark my blog anniversary (^^)

These are the books I bought. The bookstore does not provide any plastic bags...instead, they use a string to tie up the books. Yes, most of the shops including all their supermarkets will not provide any plastic bags, you need to bring your own. Unless, you specifically request for it, and of course, you need to pay for the bags.

In the past, I used to mark my blog anniversary by sending little gift to fellow blogger pals...privately. This time, my 4th year into blogging, I am making it a public affair. When I first saw this book on the book shelf, I immediately know that this is it! This will be a great blog giveaway.

Just look at these beautiful pages! What make this book stands out from the rest is...besides the usual sweet cakes, there is this whole section on savoury cakes. How interesting?! The only downside is, it is written in Chinese.

If you love to add this book to your collections, simply leave a comment with this tag: "我爱烘焙!" and I will announce the winner on 10 Jan 2011.

To all my readers, here's wishing all of you a wonderful year ahead and I am looking forward to yet another year of Happy Home Baking!

Anyway, I've been using ur Cinnamon roll recipe with a little of my moderations as I succeed...

So, looking forward to see more of ur great bakes in 2011...

My flaky mooncake of course didnt turn out like yours. I love to read your posts and tried starting a blog so that i dont lose my receipes which are in papers. Have not uploaded any recipes though. Keep your posts coming. Love to read them! : )

I do not read Chinese and even need Aaron to translate the 4 Chinese Characters for me. It turn out to be 'I love baking!'

I hesitate a while if I should enter but some of the pictures you have posted from the book really captured my attention. There are a lot of good Chinese recipes out there, especially breads and buns that are not translated into English as easily and the methods are sometimes amazing and yield awesome texture.

And Aaron said he would happily spend time going through the recipes with me and translate them as we go. Thus, I've decided to join in your little giveaway as well, knowing I could share the recipes in English to people who do not read Chinese like me and also be able to spend some good U-N-I time with my partner!

Thank you for hosting the giveaway and Happy Blogoversary to you and your blog! You have come a long long way...

My mum is a hard core baker! She does not spend money dressing up nor does she like pedicure/manicure as a waste of money. However, she will not hesitate to spend on baking courses/books/items...She told me she loves to bake/cook because she finds happiness to see the joy of people who likes her bakes and when they sing praises for her...She can only read in Chinese and this will be a perfect gift for her! I would really love to pass this great book to her as I am really proud of my mum and her bakes :D Thank you for sharing it with us :D

Hello HappyHomeBaking!

First of all, Congratulations to you on your blog's 4th year anniversary! It sure feels great to achieve this milestone; having to go through the ups and downs through the baking journey, learning from other bake-bloggers as you go along.
I've always been one of the passive reader of your blog. In fact, the first time I tried baking chiffon cake was using your pandan chiffon cake recipe and of course i failed miserably!LOL Not because your recipe didn't work but because I was overly confident that it was an easy peasy job. I was wrong!
Anyway, hope to see the newly renovated home of yours soon, especially the kitchen! Hehe And oh,before I'm off, just want to say 我爱烘焙!Who doesn't? ;)

I am looking forward to see your new kitchen..... I could see one of your latest collections is the 5 different yeast bread making recipe book which I also have but it's in japanese version. I have been buying all the Japanese cook books in the original version and have no idea there are actually translated into chinese! May I know which area in Beijing you bought these recipe books? My hubby travels to beijing pretty often so I can get him to buy for me. Thanks!
