Yes, I was lazy, I didn't use any gelatine for the jelly layer. i just dissolve the Tortally crystal in 1 cup boiling water, 1 cup hot water (skip the step of boiling!). So, if you are making a 10" cake, would you be doubling the portion? If not you will get a flatter cake. But if you double the portion, you may not need so much, maybe you need to consider using a smaller pan for any leftover filling.
